Acceptable Use Policy

This policy applies to everything you upload, record, import, create or share with ScribeClear, and to how you use the service. It's part of our Terms of Service.

1. Only use content you have the right to use

  • Upload or import only content you own, or have permission to have transcribed.
  • Recording people: many places require everyone in a conversation to agree before it's recorded. Get the consent the law requires before you record or upload a call, meeting or interview.
  • Don't upload private communications you weren't part of or weren't allowed to record.
  • Don't use the audio download, or link import, to copy music, films or other content you don't have the rights to.

2. Don't use ScribeClear, or anything it produces, to:

  • create, store or share child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexualizes minors;
  • develop, market or help develop weapons, including chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons;
  • carry out mass surveillance, or build social-scoring systems;
  • create or spread disinformation, including to manipulate elections;
  • make automated decisions that discriminate against people and materially affect their legal rights or access to essential services, without meaningful human review;
  • impersonate a real person's voice, image or likeness without their consent, or make non-consensual synthetic media of a real person;
  • power robocalls, auto-dialers, voice phishing, or other fraudulent or deceptive automated calls or messages;
  • power an AI companion designed to simulate an exclusive romantic or intimate relationship, or to foster emotional dependency;
  • harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone, or publish someone's private information without their consent;
  • infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights;
  • do anything else that's illegal where you are or where we are.

Some of these rules come from the licences of open models we use (see Credits). They apply to all of ScribeClear, not only to the parts that use those models.

3. Don't misuse the service

  • One free account per person. Don't create extra accounts, use throwaway email addresses, or use other people's details to get more free transcriptions.
  • Plans are per person. Don't share one account between several people. Add them to your workspace instead.
  • Don't get around limits: free transcriptions, fair use, file limits, device limits or the refund rules.
  • No reselling. Don't resell ScribeClear, or offer it to others as a transcription service or API.
  • No automated access except through features we provide. Don't scrape the site or the app.
  • Don't attack the service: no malware, no files built to crash or exploit our software, no overloading, no trying to get into other people's accounts or files.
  • Don't reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it.
  • Link import is for public links. Don't use it to reach private content, and don't give us links that need someone's login.
  • Invites are for people who want to join your workspace. Don't use them to send spam.

Found a security problem? Tell us at security@scribeclear.com. Please don't access other people's data to prove it.

4. Don't rely on it for high-risk decisions

Transcripts, translations, summaries and chat answers can be wrong. Don't use them as the only basis for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, and don't use ScribeClear in systems where a mistake could cause death, injury or serious harm.

5. Reporting content and takedowns

If you think content on ScribeClear infringes your copyright or other rights, or is illegal, report it to abuse@scribeclear.com. This includes a transcript or audio reached through a share link.

Please include:

  • the share link or other location of the content;
  • what's wrong with it, and why you believe it's illegal or infringes your rights;
  • if it's about your copyright or other rights: what work or right it is, and that you own it or act for the owner;
  • your name and email address, and a statement that your report is accurate and made in good faith.

What we do:

  • We confirm we've received your report.
  • We review it and, where it's justified, remove the content or turn off the share link within 2 business days.
  • We tell the user whose content it is what we removed and why, unless the law or a safety risk prevents it, and we tell you what we decided.
  • The user can reply if they think we got it wrong (for copyright, by sending a counter-notice to the same address). We review that reply and, where it's justified, restore the content.
  • We block repeat abusers, including people who repeatedly infringe copyright.

Copyright notices under the US DMCA go to our designated agent: Geoptly Intelligence Inc., attention Copyright Agent, [CORPORATION ADDRESS]; abuse@scribeclear.com.

We may also act on our own if we find content that breaks this policy, and we report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.

Knowingly false or abusive reports may themselves break this policy.

6. What we do if this policy is broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  • remove the content or turn off share links;
  • limit features;
  • suspend or close the account;
  • report it to the authorities where the law requires it or people are at risk.

Where we reasonably can, we explain what we did and why, and you can reply to support@scribeclear.com if you think we got it wrong.

7. EU Digital Services Act

  • Reports of illegal content follow section 5. When we remove content or restrict an account, we explain why, and you can reply to support@scribeclear.com if you think we got it wrong.
